For fans of old western movies: Roy Rogers and Dale Evans made their home in Apple Valley, (they now rest at Sunset Hills Memorial Park) and, until recently kept the “Roy Rogers & Dale Evans Museum” here in Victorville. Also, the “Roy Rogers Ranch” in Oro Grande was built and owned by this famous couple. A small room at Sunset Hills is now home to a mini-museum of some of the couple's belongings.
Part of the movie “Breakdown” with Kurt Russell was filmed on 7th St. in downtown Victorville.
Route 66 was established in 1926, and runs from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California. Part of it runs through Victorville on what is now 7th and 'D' Streets.
